Preventing and Treating Baby’s Red Bottoms

All mothers or almost always ask themselves this question one day: how to treat baby’s red bottom? Indeed, it is not uncommon for baby’s skin to become irritated and painful due to repeated contact with the diaper, as well as in cases of diarrhea, teething eruptions… Discover how to prevent diaper rash..

Gently wash baby’s bottom…

Apart from changing, it is important to wash baby’s bottom daily with a gentle, hypoallergenic cleansing gel specifically for babies. But it is even more important afterwards to dry them thoroughly with a very soft, highly absorbent towel. Moisture from the diaper often triggers these rednesses.

Protect your little bottom to avoid rednesses

Once baby’s bottom is well washed and dried, apply a special diaper cream, ointment that will prevent these pesky rednesses but can also soothe them if they are already present. Zinc oxide-based creams are the best in this case, as they create a real protective barrier between the skin and the diaper.

Changing baby often is essential!

Of course, one of the key rules to prevent baby from suffering because of red bottom is to change their diaper frequently! The maceration of stool and urine in the diaper is the worst! Especially in cases of diarrhea. And each time, remember to dry the bottom well and apply a special diaper cream before closing the diaper.

Be careful when choosing wipes!

Between each change, and because it is ultra-practical, you can use wipes, but make sure they are labeled “sensitive skin,” as they are made of ultra-soft fibers that will not irritate baby’s delicate skin. Even better, but less practical, is to use a cotton pad with a drop of specially formulated cleansing milk for diaper changes.

Finally, it’s not so complicated to prevent baby from having a red bottom!
