How to Choose the Right Perfume for Women?

It's not just tastes and colors that are a matter of personal preference. Scents are also personal. Choosing a perfume is often a matter of love at first sight, depending on its top, heart, and base notes.

It's not just tastes and colors that are a matter of personal preference. Scents are also personal. Choosing a perfume is often a matter of love at first sight, depending on its top, heart, and base notes.

Even though it’s not easy to choose a perfume for a woman, it is possible to find a scent that matches her tastes, based on two criteria: its concentration and its olfactory family.

Choosing based on perfume concentration
The creation of a perfume involves a blend made by the perfumer. Depending on the concentration level, the perfume, in varying doses, is mixed with pure alcohol and distilled water. The higher the concentration, the more intense the scent and the higher the price.

When you know someone well, you can invest in eau de parfum or even pure perfume. Rare and powerful, pure perfume is an exceptional product with a concentration rate of 25%, and its prices can reach great heights. Eau de parfum, on the other hand, has a concentration of 15%.

To give eau de toilette as a gift, it’s best to know the olfactory family the woman prefers. With a concentration of 12%, it is the most commonly purchased perfume and lasts about 8 hours.

With its rather retro image, eau de cologne is making a comeback and is increasingly popular among women who want a scent that is both light and present. With a concentration of 7%, the scent fades gradually throughout the day.

Volatile, eau fraîche is recommended in summer for its refreshing and light character, with a concentration of 4%.

For those who are unsure, a perfumed body lotion or shower gel makes a great gift, leaving a light scented veil on the skin.

Knowing the preferred olfactory family
Some perfumes are similar, even if the scent is not identical. We say that perfumes belong to the same olfactory family. While leathers, aquatics, and fougères are more for men, women tend to choose from the following families:

  • Oriental perfumes.

With a sensual base, oriental perfumes are more suited to women with strong personalities, thanks to their warm and powdery notes. Vanilla can add a sweet and gourmand touch. Our range of perfumes is mainly made up of oriental scents, such as Lily eau de toilette, Leçon de séduction eau de toilette, and Leçon de séduction No. 2. The Miss France Élégance perfume plays on the oriental blend with vanilla and woody notes, thanks to sandalwood.

  • Floral perfumes.

Flowers are widely used in women’s perfumery for their delicate and refined character. The star of flowers, the rose, is a must-have. That’s why Miss France perfume contains jasmine. Lavender eau de cologne is a pure and powerful scent, perfect for relaxing, thanks to the benefits of essential oils.

  • Citrus perfumes

Fresh and light, citrus perfumes are the ultimate fruity scents, with citrus fruits as top notes. Freshness eau de cologne is ideal for spring.

  • Woody perfumes

With masculine undertones, woody perfumes for women are mainly composed of sandalwood and patchouli, with possible additions of floral or fruity notes.

  • Chypre perfumes

Based on patchouli, moss, and bergamot, chypre scents are subtle blends, appreciated for their contrast and character.
