Cold Cream: When to Use It?
"Cold Cream" has a very long history as it was invented in the 2nd century by Galen, one of the fathers of medicine. It is actually a "refreshing cream" or "cold cream" as the Anglo-Saxons call it, originally made from sweet almond oil, beeswax, and rose water, which gave the skin a cooling sensation. Cold Cream has always been valued for its nourishing and protective properties.
This formula has certainly stood the test of time (evolving in its composition) but is still widely used today, especially in the form of compounded preparations made in pharmacies.
It is therefore a superfatting and moisturizing formula that effectively combats skin dryness: it protects, soothes, repairs, and intensely hydrates the skin. This cream is very effective in maintaining and protecting the skin’s lipid barrier, preserving it from external aggressions, especially the cold.
This is why it is recommended not only for very dry skin regardless of the climate, but especially when it is cold (cold weather dries out the skin tremendously). It acts as a sort of blanket for the skin in extreme cold.
“Cold cream” can be used at any age and is suitable for the whole family.
Your baby, who has fragile and sensitive skin, will particularly appreciate it on the face during outings in the cold, such as winter sports.
