Equip yourself with the right materials

Cleaning your baby’s eyes requires gentleness and delicacy to avoid irritation. Here’s the essential toiletry kit for this care. First, you need two sterile pads, as you should not clean both eyes with the same pad to avoid contamination. Equip yourself with saline solution and you’re all set. On a daily basis, your baby doesn’t need specific products unless there is a slight irritation, in which case the pediatrician will prescribe the necessary product.

How to clean the eyes?

Soak the pad or cotton square with a little saline solution. If your baby has small secretions at the inner corner of the eye, gently place and massage without pressing, at the corner of the eye; you should be able to remove these impurities.

Always start with the cleanest corner of the eye and clean the eye, leaving the dirtiest part for last. This way, in case of infection, you don’t spread the germ. However, if your baby’s eyes are watering a lot, it could be a mild conjunctivitis. Don’t hesitate to talk to your pediatrician about it.
