Marathon: Tips from a Real Nature Lover!

Let us introduce Charlotte, export manager at Corine de Farme.

On the occasion of the Paris Marathon, this great athlete shares all her tips to be ready on the big day!

But first, a quick look back at her running background.

Marathon: Tips from a Real Nature Lover!

How long have you been running?

I have always loved sports, but running has never been my favorite sport!

What motivates you?

In a fast-paced life, running has become an essential link to stay energetic every day. Each run is a moment of relaxation, a time to refocus on myself... It's also a great way to stay in shape and challenge myself! No need for complicated equipment, just a pair of sneakers and that's it! In fact, I always take them with me on my business trips.

What was the trigger for your first marathon?

The trigger happened gradually. First a 10km race, then 12km, then 20… it’s actually quite addictive. You just have to dare to start and let yourself be swept away by the running euphoria! I decided to take the leap to a marathon after a unique experience: the Raid des Alizée. A 100% women’s race organized for a charitable cause. It took place over 4 days and included trail running, mountain biking, canoeing… an unforgettable human and sporting adventure! The very next day I had only one certainty: I HAD TO RUN A MARATHON!

Tell us about your first marathon

It was the Amsterdam marathon last October! I loved it! The atmosphere along the course is truly incredible, no need for music, all those cheers and words of encouragement really help you keep going when it gets tough. Once I crossed the finish line, I was already thinking about my next race!

A story from your race?

During marathons, people often talk about “the wall” at the 30th kilometer, which is a critical moment for many runners. To help us get through it, the organizers had set up giant screens showing pre-recorded encouragement videos from the runners’ loved ones. That’s when I saw my children cheering me on, “Go mom!”—it gave me the energy to keep going!

How do you prepare well for a marathon?

The preparation time depends on each person’s level and goals. For me, it was 2 months. Consistency in training and a suitable diet are necessary. You can also follow a training program. I rely a lot on intuition; my experience allows me to be quite independent and self-taught in sports.

Any tips for race day?

Above all, don’t put too much pressure on yourself! Run for pleasure, listen to yourself, and enjoy every moment. It’s a unique experience, a moment of sharing, and the feeling at the finish line is just incredible.

Already have an idea for your next race?

Yes! In 2020 it will be the Paris Marathon and the New York Marathon for my 40th birthday! If I listened to myself, I’d do them all the time!

A word of encouragement for our future female marathoners?

Put on your sneakers, get active, and push your limits! It feels amazing!
