We all have misconceptions about the sun and its harmful effects... Yet, we love to enjoy it as soon as it shows its face. Let's take a little quiz together to see if everything is clear between us and the sun!

1) Do self-tanning creams protect you from the sun? True or false?

False! Among all the questions about the sun, this one often misleads us... We tend to think that self-tanning cream is the same as protective sunscreen! Unfortunately, self-tanning cream only colors the surface of the skin and does not protect it at all. Simply because it does not contain UV filters. However, some more modern creams now offer products that are both protective and self-tanning, but before buying them, make sure the protection factor is clearly indicated on the product.

2) Is children's skin no more vulnerable than adults'? True or false?

False! Their skin is much thinner than that of adults, and therefore more sensitive! Their epidermis also defends itself much less well, and sunburns are much harsher both immediately and in the future. In fact, a child who has had a lot of sunburns during their youth is at greater risk of developing cancer at an early age. So, carefully watch your children's skin, protect it properly with a sun protection spray, and avoid prolonged exposure.

3) Do tanning beds or sunlamps prepare the skin for the sun? True or false?

False! These rays are just as harmful as those from the sun! It's true that they only emit UVA, which rarely causes sunburn, but they are just as aggressive for the skin. They also contribute to skin aging and do not reduce the risk of skin cancer. So, they should be used sparingly, and sessions should be spaced out if you are tempted!

4) Is it absolutely necessary to wear sunglasses during sun exposure? True or false?

True! Eyes are just as sensitive as skin to UV rays. So, make sure to wear your sunglasses every time you are exposed, choosing them so that they protect you properly. The same goes for children—they should wear them all summer when the weather is nice. It's essential!

5) Do dietary supplements really prepare the skin for the sun? True or false?

False! They give the skin a nice glow thanks to beta-carotene, but it's an artificial color that neither protects nor prepares the skin. Eat carrots, peppers, and tomatoes as a cure, and you'll get the same effect. So, don't be fooled by appearances! Nothing beats a good sunscreen with maximum protection factor!

Do we all have questions about the sun? We've just answered a few, but if you have more, ask us! We'll be happy to answer them in a future post!
