Some hygiene rules are essential to fight winter ailments and avoid any viral infection in babies: gastroenteritis, rhino-pharyngitis, bronchiolitis... Reduce the risks by following our small recommendations.
1) Wash your hands regularly!
Think several times a day about thoroughly washing your hands with a hand foam or a <strong mild soap. Remind the rest of the family to do the same. Repeat the operation each time you need to pick up baby or handle his bottles and toys.
2) Wear a mask if you are sick!
If you have a cold, or if you cough, put on a mask each time you need to take care of him. Plan for several masks, one for each family member. This will prevent baby from catching your microbes.
3) Clean his nose often with serum!
Every morning, during baby’s bath, properly clean your little one’s nose with physiological serum. If he starts to have a slight cold, repeat the operation 3 to 6 times a day.
4) Avoid public places!
Supermarkets, public transport... are full of microbes and viruses of all kinds... As long as he is small, avoid taking him to these infested places. This will save you health troubles...
5) Air his room daily!
Every day, remember to air his room! Open a window for a few minutes to let the air circulate. Consider placing a humidifier near his radiator so the room’s atmosphere isn’t too dry, and maintain a temperature at 19°C.
6) Clean stuffed animals and toys!
Also, wash his stuffed animals, fabric toys in the washing machine as often as possible, and put his pacifiers, teething rings in the dishwasher... This will significantly reduce virus risks.
These simple hygiene rules that are easy to implement will undoubtedly limit the risk of illnesses, known as winter ailments.
