Baby changing: what type of wipes should you use?

What could be simpler than wipes to clean your baby's bottom? With just one swipe, your child's skin is clean and soft. Washable wipes are becoming increasingly popular for ecological and economic reasons. However, in every diaper bag, disposable wipes are moms' favorites. The latter have been at the center of media controversy due to their questionable ingredients. Disposable wipes should contain natural ingredients for a gentle change.

Washable wipes, the eco-friendly solution for changing

Reusable and practical, washable wipes are winning over more and more moms who are looking for an economical and ecological way to clean their child's skin during diaper changes.

Wipes are often made of cotton. Conveniently, they can be washed at up to 90°C to remove stains, such as from stool. Bamboo and hemp are other popular materials for making washable wipes. Thicker wipes take longer to dry. Washable wipes can be lined with fleece for extra softness.

Cloth wipes can be used to clean the child's bottom with soapy water or a little cleansing milk.

Disposable wipes, the on-the-go version for the diaper bag

Wipes are sold in packs of 62. For larger quantities, it is better to choose packaging with a dispenser to prevent the wipes from drying out. In pocket-sized versions, the pack is only sealed with a sticker. It is essential to use them quickly.

The wipes are soaked in product to clean the skin and leave a pleasant scent on the bottom. However, these have been accused of posing a danger to babies. When buying, you should be cautious and read the ingredients carefully. The ingredient to avoid is phenoxyethanol, an endocrine disruptor that can have a negative effect on fertility.

Wipes should be guaranteed free from phenoxyethanol to ensure the child's good health. If your child tends to get diaper rash, wipes for sensitive skin are better suited.
