How to Prevent Acne Breakouts After Sun Exposure?

Throughout the summer season, you have beautiful, well-tanned skin and, above all, not a single blemish! But when back-to-school time comes, as if stress wasn’t enough, you get an acne flare-up. As you’ve guessed, it’s actually after these sun exposures that your skin reacts. So how can you avoid this breakout?

Throughout the summer season, you have beautiful, well-tanned skin and, above all, not a single blemish! But when back-to-school time comes, as if stress wasn’t enough, you get an acne flare-up. As you’ve guessed, it’s actually after these sun exposures that your skin reacts. So how can you avoid this breakout?

Why does this flare-up happen?

To better understand, you need to know that the sun makes your skin drier and thicker. So, as long as you’re exposed, everything seems fine! The sebum is well hidden in the epidermis. But once summer is over, the skin releases all the excess sebum it has stored. And here comes the breakout!

Sun care is a must!

The first rule: apply sun care and reapply if you’re out in the sun. Even after several exposures, with your glowing complexion, never allow yourself to go unprotected. In fact, your sunscreen will slow down the skin-thickening process that gives this false impression. A tip: if possible, use a facial sunscreen and avoid applying it around the eyes.

Properly cleanse your skin

When you get home, it’s very important to thoroughly cleanse your skin with a suitable product to prevent your pores from getting clogged. Choose a product suited to your skin type and a toner to refresh you after a day in the sun. A hydrating mask and an exfoliating treatment are always welcome to deeply cleanse your skin of excess sebum.

Hydration to repair sun damage

Whether your skin is oily or dry, the sun damages and dries it out, and it needs to be hydrated. If you don’t apply a suitable moisturizer, you risk producing even more sebum, a natural reaction to this aggression. So, cream is a must, morning and night, for oily skin too—just avoid the eye area!
