Our 5 Tips for a Cozy Self-Care Routine

Once a week, it’s important to treat yourself to a cocooning moment with a complete body care routine. Exfoliating dead skin cells, massaging to relax and hydrate the skin, foot care—it’s important not to neglect any area. In winter, we tend to care less about our skin, even though the epidermis can suffer from dryness due to cold weather and lack of hydration.
Body treatments usually last between 1 and 1.5 hours and include a massage to relax the body. At home, you can take 2 hours to give your skin a concentrated dose of well-being.
Rituals Offered in Spas, Thalassotherapy Centers, or Salons
The first phase of the treatment always begins with an exfoliation, to remove dead skin cells. The scrub may contain microbeads, vegetable oils, and plant extracts such as green tea, flower petals, seaweed, or spices.
After a quick rinse in the shower, the massage is a kind of bodywork that can have its own specificities, combining gentle strokes, pressure, and stretching. It can be Californian, Swedish, Indonesian, Thai with pressure on the meridians, Ayurvedic with warm oil to promote energy flow, or hot stone to help blood circulation and relieve stress.
Creating Your Own Skincare Routine at Home
1- It is possible to enjoy all the benefits of a homemade treatment. Set the mood with soft music. Run a bath at 37°C and stay in for no more than 15 minutes. At over 40°C and beyond a quarter of an hour, tissues start to soften.
2- Exfoliate with a scrub product, using circular motions. It is essential to rinse off your exfoliant thoroughly to avoid itching.
3- Hydration can be done either by applying a body lotion after your shower or bath. Pay special attention to areas like joints or the neck to help you relax.
4- Feet are often forgotten during body care. A foot bath with suitable bath salts is ideal for relieving the feeling of heavy legs. Calluses should be gently filed with a pumice stone. Be careful not to over-file, as this can overly weaken the skin.
5- Applying a moisturizing cream will leave your feet soft and hydrated.
